JUST A QUICK ITEM

JUST A QUICK ITEM

This is in lieu of the US Supreme Court's conservative majority 'Citizens United vs. FEC' ruling last year that overturned federal laws banning corporations from using company profits to buy campaign ads and buy political influence. In essence, giving corporations constitutional rights and first amendment protections that were once exclusive to citizens as individuals. Speech is not money in U.S. politics right?

Romney
, now campaigning in Iowa for the Republican presidential primary candidacy, just told his audience there today that indeed, "corporations are people, my friend."

Trying to appear as a gutless wonder to the mass of assembled Tea Party type people, he further added that, corporations are people because their "profits goes into the pockets of people."

A fairly lousy analogy, but to make it relevant, he conveniently forgot to state that now those profits also will go mostly into the pockets of PAC's, self-serving politicians and  into the pockets of the wealthiest 1% of the population. With this ruling, corporate privileges even go beyond enjoying the privileges of being treated equally as a natural person, because in addition, they have the right to peddle political influence with money no average individual can match.

Comment anyone...
